Even though millet has several health advantages, many people report bloating and constipation after eating it.
As people become more aware of the benefits of eating nutrient-dense foods, the focus has switched to millet because they are known to be high in fibre, amino acids, vitamin B, and several essential minerals. For folks who cannot consume wheat, millets are the best option. While presenting the Union Budget 2022 in February of this year, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman designated 2022–2023 to be the "International Year of Millets." Nevertheless, despite all of the millet's health benefits, many people say that after eating it, they experience bloating and constipation.
According to ayurvedic specialist Dr Aiswarya Santhosh, millets are often rooksha (drying) and laghu (light) in nature.
Explaining the same, she added that the rooksha characteristics of millets suck out excess moisture and dry up. “Both qualities increase Vata, leading to constipation and bloating,” she said. This can be worse for people with the Vata-dominant disease – already-existing internal dryness.
It is essential to abide by these straightforward recommendations to avoid constipation and bloating brought on by millet.
