Is Cinnamon good for diabetics?
Cinnamon is widely used to flavour desserts and is also an essential ingredient used to make the traditional garam masala in most Indian kitchens.
Even though cinnamon is used to spice food, it also offers a tonne of other advantages. The anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, anti-tumour, anti-cancer, and antihyperglycemic effects of cinnamon are mostly due to its photochemical components, including chromium and volatile and phenolic chemicals.
Although there are numerous etiologies for diabetes, the underlying issue—insufficient insulin production or insulin resistance—remains the same. "A well-known "natural insulin sensitizer" is cinnamon. Numerous types of research have demonstrated how cinnamon lowers blood sugar levels. Additionally, cinnamon has demonstrated its efficiency in lowering HOMA-IR levels and fasting blood sugar in numerous trials conducted on persons with type II diabetes and pre-diabetes.
The levels of HbA1c, however, only slightly decreased. They pointed out that this might simply be because most studies only last for a brief period and that additional research in this area could be very helpful.
