STEP Scheme aims to provide skills that give employability to women and to provide competencies and skill that enable women to become self-employed/entrepreneurs.

Support to training and employment programme for women.

The STEP scheme aims to equip women with the employability they require, as well as the knowledge and skills needed to launch their own enterprises or work for themselves. The program is intended to assist all women in need who are at least 16 years old nationwide.

Scheme Benefits and Highlights:

The scheme has two-fold objectives, viz.

1. To provide women with the employability-boosting skills they need,

2. To equip women with the knowledge and skills necessary to start their own businesses or work for themselves.


The scheme's target audience:

The scheme is intended to benefit women who are in the age group of 16 years and above.


Grants-in-aid under the STEP scheme may be given to an institution having a distinct legal entity as under:

1. Institutions or organisations that were created as independent organizations in accordance with a specific statute, or as societies registered in accordance with the Societies Registration Act of 1860, the Indian Trusts Act of 1882 (Not for Profit), or other statutes.

2.volunteer organisations or non-governmental organisations that are registered under the Societies Registration Act and Indian Trust Act and have the appropriate financial and other resources, credibility, and experience for the kind of operations to be carried out.
